Last time I visited Olbia was on a cruise ship an autumn morning. That provided a rather spectacular scenery overviewing the east-facing fairway into the extremely busy ferry port.
I have always been impressed by the number of ferries servicing Sardinia’s only 1.6 million inhabitants with Olbia as the leading port, but supplemented by Porto Torres, Golfo Aranci and Cagliari.
On one of my earlier visits we rented a car at the ferry terminal and went out to the wetlands on the southern shores of the fairway.
That was in 2008 and inspired me to combine long compressed telephotos with landscapes and ships. Something, which actually ended up being a creative passion for me!
