The Nordic summer nights combined with Viking Line’s sailing schedule in the peak season provides new photo opportunities during the tax free–call on the Åland Islands in Mariehamn.
Normally the five-minute call in Mariehamn on the leg from Stockholm to Helsinki, takes place in more or less darkness. Nevertheless, the early departure from Stockholm, which the following day allows a daytrip over the Gulf of Finland to Tallinn during the call in the Finnish capital, now brings MARIELLA and GABRIELLA to the Åland Islands 50 minutes earlier, during the blue hour.
Here two “sail by shootings” form my recent trip to the Stockholm region, which also included a reunion with the red and white stalwart MARIELLA that acted as my photo platform on a mini cruise Stockholm-Ålands Islands-Helsinki-Tallinn-Helsinki-Ålands Islands-Stockholm.
